At the end of November three of our board members and a young person from the Voice Inclusion Project (VIP) lent their time and talents to a co-production event facilitated by Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS). The aim of the session was to co-produce animations and videos for use in delivering key messages to panel members in the Children’s Hearings System.
Harry Dexter, Dame Marsha, and Remi were keen to take part in this event as it was an opportunity to share their lived experience of approaches and skills panel members should use in their roles, to make children’s hearings better for young people.
The team were allowed to choose the themes and content for each animation and were supported by Jenifer Smith from CHS in using the technology to create the videos. They settled on the following three important themes:
– Ways to Make a Hearing Positive
– Key Learnings – Our Wish
– 5 Top Tips for Panel Members
It was a productive day of fun, friendship, collaboration, and pizza, out of which came three fantastic animations which will be added to the CHS Learning Academy modules, and shared with panel members. We will share links to the animations in due course.
After the event, as we made our way to Haymarket Station to catch our trains home, Remi remarked that she really enjoyed the day, had learned a lot, and met some interesting people. We adults enjoyed the session as well and felt privileged to be a part of it. As is often the case, the adults supporting this event were blown away by the thought-provoking and powerful contributions of our fantastic young people, and we at OHOV couldn’t be prouder of them.
