Our Hearings, Our Voice teamed up with the Resilience Learning Partnership to provide wellbeing packs for young Board Members during lockdown.
The Clackmannanshire-based social enterprise initiative prepared packs for all the Board Members and they were posted or hand delivered last week.
The packs include a full set of toiletries, including toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel etc. It also contains a collection of craft materials to keep busy during lockdown, including a journal, water colour pencils, a small canvass for drawing and a kit to make friendship bracelets.
Jacqui Dunbar from OHOV said: “A massive thank you to Shumela and team for all their help. The idea stemmed from seeing what they were doing with their Crafty Kids Survival Boxes, and I thought it would be a great idea if they could provide something similar for Our Hearings, Our Voice Board Members.
“Many young people are finding it tough during the pandemic restrictions. Everything has changed for everyone, but children and young people are amongst the hardest hit.
“Some of our Board Members have had important transitions like leaving school brought to an abrupt end, and those who were planning further education, or thinking about a career path are faced with real uncertainty.
“Hopefully the wellbeing packs help them in some way and show them we are all thinking about them.”
Jacqui added: “The feedback so far has been extremely positive. One of our Board Members said how much they loved using the watercolour pencils and another commented on feeling less alone when they got the surprise of the pack arriving at their door. The toiletries have gone down well, as many people don’t want to venture out to busy shops at this point.
“Our thanks once again go to the Resilience Learning Partnership who took the time to explore our specific needs and packaged the packs up in a way that allowed us to post them to the Board Members.”
