Our Hearings, Our Voice held its first ever Board meeting online!
The Home Stay Hangout took place on Saturday 13 June, with Board Members, OHOV Advisors and some Corporate Parents all taking part.
It was a packed afternoon but the main focus was to trial bringing the young people together in a virtual environment so they could connect with each other, share some food and have fun. The group also began to explore their next big project which involves another exciting and creative collaboration with Napier University (more information to follow soon).
As well as discussing the new project, there was live streams, a quiz, online games and some creative activities offline.
Everybody attending was posted out a Home Stay Hangout pack in advance, so they had everything they needed for the day (including hot chocolate and marshmallows for the virtual campfire at the end of the day!)
Jacqui Dunbar from OHOV said: “Despite one or two minor technical glitches, everyone seemed to really enjoy it and it was a great opportunity to use our new private online platform in a more dynamic way.
“Obviously it wasn’t the same as everyone getting together in person, but with the lockdown restrictions still in place, we know how important it is to maintain our relationships and connections together (even if that needs to be virtually at the moment). We are trying to see this as an opportunity to create new and innovative ways of working together as we move forward.”
Jacqui added: “As always, thanks to the amazing Board Members, our Advisors and the Corporate Parents who joined us for the day, we hope you’ve come down off the sugar high!”
